Polar/Cals/Centuries

Well, I finally took the fit test on my Polar S720i and got a VO2max value
of 55, which is considerably higher than the default 35 that they suggested
for women.

My calorie usage during my last century about 2 weeks ago (av sp 16.5'ish)
with the old value was only around 2400, which I thought was way too low.

Now that I changed the value to 55, my calorie burn for 100 miles runs
between around 3300 and 3600, which I think might be a tad more realistic.

Now for the good news....did my first ever 2 centuries in 2 days, and just
finished my third century in 5 days! Average speeds were just under 18,
just over 18, and I think today's was around 17.5. COOL! I have another
one to do this Saturday, so that will be 4 in 8 days.

Cat who is happy with high mile weeks!

Wow, Cat, you rock, girl! Are you a student? I wish I could get those
kinds of miles in...where are these centuries? Are they organized or just
rides of 100 miles?

Nope, I am an old lady (42). I am an attorney turned personal trainer and I
work 5 am-1 pm, so I can ride a lot. The first century started out with our
regular Saturday group ride, which is a slam fest from the first 1/10th
mile. It's basically 4 of our local racing teams. At the turnaround (mile
30 or so) another guy and I went out farther to Doylestown. We then went
back to Philadelphia. I left my guy and finished up with a lap around the
Schuylkill River then home. On Sunday, a group of about 12 of us went from
Philadelphia to New Hope and back. It was a very controlled ride, and I
pulled a lot of the way home. Today, I picked up one other guy and pulled
him to Doylestown and back to his house, (50 miles) and then went down to
the river and did 4 laps before heading home, so essentially, I pulled this
one the whole way!
