I don't know if they're BMX bikes, but the riders where I live who
exhibit the most robust death-wish wear wool stocking caps, pants
several sizes too big, and have their seats adjusted so low that their
knees come up around their chin. They use only one hand, the other
one either dangles or has a cigarette.

Rd being one of them. For those not familiar with Chicago, if you drive north
on Lake Shore Drive and never exit you'll end up on Sheridan Road just south of
Loyola University. At points LSD is four plus lanes wide in each direction.
Sheridan is two lanes in each direction. Add the college traffic and is it any
wonder the traffic is miserable? Oh, and there *are* parallel alternate routes
that include surface streets and a designated MUP.
