I question both claims...the first my be true for relatively short workouts,
but if you're touring the iPod will kick ass. The second has a ring of
truth, but if you're talking around with 40 GB of mp3s, then who needs a CD
player?

The Cali weighs exactly half as much as an iPod Mini. I put 10 hours of
music on mine on Sunday and it's good for a week of commuting without
repeating a song. (256MB internal plus 256MB on SD card.)

If I'm touring or traveling, one of the things I'm doing is visiting used CD
stores and seeking out interesting local music, and bands are always selling
their CDs at shows. An iPod would be of no use. Meanwhile, I can travel with
10GB of MP3s on CD along with a $40 player and not worry about a $400 device
being lost or stolen, and I can buy new music without needing a computer.
