is this a good deal on a new wheel? - Cycling Mob: Road Cycling, Mountain Biking and More

I have a great one man bike shop I go to often. he has a velocity rim. I cant
remember if it is a arrowhead deep v or the fusion though i think it is the
arrowhead is built it with a velocity front hub and radial spokes. (not my
favorite spoke patter from what I heave ready but it is a front wheel. he
offered it to me for 125.00 says the hub is 100.00 by it's self.
I know it's a good deal but is it a killer deal?

I wouldn't call it a killer deal. Don't know anything about a Velocity hub.
Didn't know they made them. It's not a premier name in hubs as far as I
know. You could get the same wheel with a hub that IS one of the premier
names in hubs for about the same price if you shop around. Did this guy
build the wheel? The quality of the build will be as important as those
components.

I wouldn't call it a killer deal. Don't know anything about a Velocity hub.

looking around the price is not too bad for a LBS. he is a good builder. the
hub has sealed bearings and that's cool where shimano does not. for that price
mail order I would get a ulterga hub and a mavic open pro. but hey it even has
black spokes (G)
the hub is smoother then the shimano or campy ones I have had or seen. but the
service is great and that important too.
I got the wheel today and it sure rolls nice. it is quieter then what I was
using. I don't get as much road noise and no more spoke pinging I was having.

looking around the price is not too bad for a LBS. he is a good builder. the
