A broken switch last week gave me occasion to rely on the Planet Bike
3 LED Beamer for lighting my way home. Even though the batteries were
old and needing replacement the amount of light it put on the path was
sufficient for getting back to civilisation. I was impressed.
I use it mostly in blink mode as a stand light in conjunction with the
generator lamp. Batteries last a long time in that type of service.

I forgot to mention in my previous post ... in addition to two seperate SLA
halogen systems on my commuting bike, I also have (in a effort to "be seen")
a LIGHTMAN white strobe on the front of the bike.

Re: Headlamp recommendations for night riding

So, is anyone using the HID setups like a Niterider
"Flamethrower"([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Are these really *that* much better than lights half their cost? Man, these
are expensive. Is this the only way to really light up the road in front of
you?...or do these even accomplish that...?

Ok now....who sells the setup with the car headlight and a water bottle
battery? Sounds like that would work!
